A sliver of light
All you ever are
It’s barely recognizable at first. Against the backdrop of all the other light. Images bouncing off your retina billions of times per second. Objects coming and going. Thoughts floating through consciousness at their own will. Not invited or requested by you.
You think you catch a glimpse of it. If only for a second. An aberrant sliver of light. Unexpected. Extraterrestrial. As your focus narrows in it comes deeper into awareness. Shining a rainbow of color from its miniscule prism. It appears infinitesimally small at first. Unimportant.
But as it comes closer it conjures up a memory you can’t quite place. An experience that seems to date back before you had experiences. You recognize it as it floats into you. Into your heart, your center. And its bounds morph into everything.
A sense of fullness fills you. Its image fulfills you. This is all you are. This is all you will ever claim. This is all you will ever own.
A sliver of light that is nothing and everything all at once. All you are and will ever be.
