No Witness
Just thoughts
What if there were no witness?
If these thoughts about thoughts were themselves imaginations.
The watcher, just another thought. The perspective, just a shift in thinking.
The watcher of the watcher. Also a thought.
And that watcher, a thought.
What if it were all thoughts?
As I sit in meditation or step back in daily life I see the thoughts just appear.
Where do I see them from. Who is seeing?
What if the seeing, the witness, is just another aspect of the thought.
An integrated system of thinking.
If I’m not the witness. Who am I.
What am I.
What is left, here in this moment.
Quiet. Space.
Sensation, sounds, sight.
What else do I need?
A thought of relief passes by.
A brief sense of freedom.
Thoughts of an answer float in,
Are captured by some thought witness,
And pass right by.
And back to quiet.
Back to rest.
With no one resting.
Can you see the answer to the question? That at it’s heart, there is no question. The paradox at the center of every religion. Every belief system. Every existential answer. It was never about the question. The question was always just a pointer. Just another thought, built with intention to point you back to the process, the ongoing illusion? What’s left when thought is seen through can’t be described. Because that too would be a thought. The simplicity is almost hilarious. Maybe a little embarrassing. Stop looking for the profound. Look just under your nose. It’s always been right here.
